By abolishing the three institutions named, Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Educational Development, Punjab Examination Commission, Punjab Curriculum and Text Book Board the Punjab government created a new institution Punjab Education Curriculum, Trainings and Assessment Authority (PECTAA).

Why PECTAA was Made?

In order to minimize spending money, the federal government combined three of the Ministry of Education’s primary institutions to create a new educational institution.

  • The Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Education Development (QAED)
  • the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC),
  • the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) will all be replaced by the newly formed Punjab Education Curriculum, Training, and Assessment Authority (PECTAA).In order to conserve money, the federal government combined three of the Ministry of Education’s primary institutions to create a new educational institution.  The newly formed Punjab Education Curriculum, Training, and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) will take the place of these organizations and handle their educational duties in the province.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF PECTAA?

In an effort to reform education in the state of Punjab, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB), the Quaid-i-Azam Academy for Educational Development (QAED), and the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) merged to form the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessments Authority (PECTAA) on Friday. A announcement from the Punjab School Education Department (SED) on April 26 notes that the government had previously established a five-member committee to combine the three departments working on curriculum creation, teacher training, and assessment framework into one umbrella body. The committee’s convener is the SED special secretary, while its other members are the chief executive officer of PEC, the managing director of PCTB, and the director general of QAED.

What are Perspectives of these Merged Institution?

Under the condition of anonymity, the head of one of these three departments disclosed that PCTB was an independent, self-sufficient organization in charge of creating and implementing curriculam, developing and approving textbooks and related supplemental reading materials, and producing textbooks. The PCTB, which had a budget of Rs. 3 billion, would produce books for schools in exchange for service charges from the government. A separate entity, the PEC is in charge of creating, developing, implementing, overseeing, and assessing examination systems up to primary school level, while the QAED is in charge of training teachers before and during their employment. He claimed that although it was difficult to see why the government intended to combine these departments.

 

Officials , Staff & Assets

PECTAA will incorporate the officials and staff of the former institutions. The three institutions’ assets are merged as part of their consolidation into PECTAA.
